Bodies In Balance™ -
A systematic approach to weight loss for adults.
Program Overview
This program is a multidisciplinary lifestyle-change approach to weight loss and the maintenance of weight loss. It acknowledges that obesity has several contributing factors (diet, lifestyle, environment, psychology, mind set, biology), and that all of these factors must be addressed. It is personalized to fit your particular needs. Equally important, it is research-driven and emphasizes the proven idea that maintenance of weight already lost is as important, if not more so, as weight loss.
The Boswell Center has designed a program that produces a moderate rate of weight loss, interspersed with periods of weight maintenance. We believe that this method will help keep you engaged in changing long-term habits, and establishing a healthful lifestyle.
In addition to your in-office sessions with your weight-loss team, you receive daily contact with your treatment team. Research has demonstrated that frequent contact and support significantly enhances success. Daily contact allows for immediate answers to your concerns, and helps you to feel accountable and part of a collaborative effort.
Your weight loss team will meet on a weekly basis to address creative approaches to your particular needs, address any problems, and anticipate how best to aid you in reaching your weight-loss goals.
How Does Bodies In Balance™ work?
- First, you will meet with your professional "weight-loss coach,"
Dr. Kelly Boswell. Dr. Boswell is a licensed psychologist with
specialized training and experience in the issues surrounding
eating, and is an expert at motivating people to change in areas
in which they are stalled. Your program is personalized based
upon your experience with dieting, your goals and your particular
life challenges. Dr. Boswell utilizes research-supported principles
and motivational techniques to aid you in achieving long-term
success.
- Next, you will meet with a licensed dietitian who specializes
in the treatment of obesity and overeating. The dietitian will
measure your resting metabolic rate using the MedGem™,
an FDA-approved device that accurately determines the number
of calories your body requires on a daily basis. This is important
because it allows the dietitian to design a food program, which
will result in weight loss, while protecting your metabolism.
This program is implemented in a manner that allows you to lose
weight, without feeling deprived.
- In addition to the above, you will meet with a Licensed Mental
Health Counselor. The counselor utilizes advanced visualization
techniques to help enhance body image, and visualize success.
The counselor also aids in developing the resources necessary
to alter eating patterns and develop permanent lifestyle change.
- In some cases, medication to aid in weight loss can be a very
helpful adjunct to any weight-loss program.
